13 Benefits of Staying at A Disney World Hotel
Disney hotels are expensive. It’s normal to wonder if they’re really worth the price. This post is going to get into all the benefits of staying at a Disney World Hotel so you can decide if it’s worth it to you!

Free Transportation
Now, once you’re on Disney property, you get to use Disney World Transportation for free, whether you stay at a Disney Hotel or not.
But if you’re staying at a non-Disney hotel (or any other off site location), you can’t necessarily count on being about to get to Disney property. Many nearby non-Disney hotels do offer shuttles to the parks, but not all.
And if you’re considering staying in an VRBO or AirBnB, you’re definitely on your own.
And even if you stay at a Disney area hotel that offers a shuttle, they typically run less frequently than Disney Transportation.
While Disney Transportation can be imperfect, it’s also typically incredibly efficient and convenient. And definitely a benefit of staying at a Disney World Hotel.
Free Parking
If you drive to Disney World, you’re able to park your car at the theme parks for free. This saves you a minimum of $30 per day.
Early Park Entry
Another benefit to staying at a Disney World hotel is that you get a 30 minute head start in the parks.
That’s right! If you stay in a Walt Disney World Resort Hotel, you get to beat the non-Disney World Resort guests to your favorite ride. And you can go to any park you want to take advantage of this.
Extended Evening Hours (for select resorts)
If you’re staying at a Walt Disney World Deluxe resort, you also have Extended Evening Hours. This means you get an extra two hours after the parks close to the public.
Unlike the Early Park Entry, this isn’t available at every park or every night.
Disney Deals and Discounts
These change regularly, but they can be exciting all the same. If you keep an eye out, you may find that there are some good deals and discounts available for Disney World Resort guests.
For instance, you might find a free dining plan attached to a Resort package, or discounts on room and ticket bundles.

Laundry facilities
All Disney World Resort hotels have access to self-service laundry facilities. So if you want pack light (or save room in your suitcase for souvenirs), Disney has you covered.
Tons of activities
There are a ton of activities at Disney World hotels. And while you can do a lot of them without being a guest of that hotel, this isn’t true for everything.
And if you’re interested in having a non-park day, staying on property and at a resort with a good number of activities is going to be more convenient and enjoyable for you.
That said, not all resorts are created equally, so if activities are important to you, do your research before you book.
Pools
One of the big benefits to staying at a Disney World Hotel is the pools! If you’re planning on being in the parks the whole time, this may not be important to you, but if you’re looking to have some down time at the pool, then this is definitely something to consider.
All of Disney World pools have some kind of theming, and all of the main pools typically have some kind of water features. And the more you pay for your hotel, the more elaborate your main pool is likely to be.
The Value resorts are going to have the most low-key pools. Most (if not all) have some kind of water feature at their main pool. And they’re all themed to the resort.
The Moderate and Deluxe resorts all have some kind of slide with their main pools and most have more elaborate water features as well.
And if you really want to go big, staying at the Beach Club or Yacht Club gets you access to Stormalong Bay, which is basically a waterpark.
Free Water Park tickets for the day of your check in (2025, Summer 2026)
At this point in time, one benefit of staying at a Disney World Resort Hotel is that you get complementary tickets to one of Disney’s Water Parks, Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach.
These are for anyone staying at a Disney World Resort in 2025 and Disney has announced they’ll also be offering this to WDW resort guests in summer of 2026.
You can only use these tickets on your check in day, so to really get the most of this, you’ll want to plan to get to Disney early. But you’re basically adding a day to your trip for little to no expense.
Extended Advanced Dining Reservation Window
Another one of the benefits to staying at a Disney World hotel is that you get to make your advanced dining reservations sooner than non-Disney World resort guests.
If you’re staying at a Walt Disney World resort, you get to make your dining reservations for your entire trip 60 days prior to your arrival.
If you’re staying off property, you are only able to book your dining reservations 60 days in advance. As in, 60 days prior to your arrival, you can book your arrival day. Then the next day, you can book for your first full day in Disney, and so on.
Not only is it a little annoying to do this, it also means you’re less likely to get reservations at more popular places. If you’re staying on property, you’re much more likely to snag a hard-to-get reservation by booking it at the end of your vacation when your 60-day window opens.
This is much less likely to happen if you’re only able to book exactly 60 days in advance.
Extended Lightning Lane Window
Lightning Lanes are Disney’s premium (paid) service that allows you to skip the lines at Disney’s most popular attractions. However, there’s only a limited number of Lightning Lanes available for purchase.
If you stay at a Disney World hotel, you get the opportunity to purchase Lightning Lanes 7 days prior to your arrival day. If you’re not staying at a Disney World hotel, you’re able to purchase Lightning Lanes 3 days prior to your arrival day.
Access to Disney Dining Plans
The Disney Dining Plan allows you to prepay for most of your food for your Disney World vacation. While you’re likely not saving money, you do have the convenience of knowing that your trip will be almost completely paid for when you arrive at the parks.
However, the Disney Dining Plan is only an option for Disney World Resort hotel guests. If you’re planning to pay for your food out of pocket anyway, this likely won’t matter to you. But if you’re interested in more of an all-inclusive feel, you need to be staying on Disney World Property.

The Fully Immersive Disney Bubble Experience
To me, this is the biggest benefit for staying at a Disney World Hotel. You’re able to be fully immersed in the Disney experience.
One thing Disney is good at is customer service. When you stay at a Disney World hotel, you’re getting that same high standard of service and care no matter what hotel you stay at. I always notice a big difference when I leave property.
Staying at a Disney World Hotel means you’re investing in a complete experience. It’s not just a bed or a room you’re paying for. It’s an experience. And I’ll be honest, to me, it’s always worth it.
